Shelly Johnson’s passion for architecture began early in life, shaped by moving frequently as a child and experiencing firsthand how thoughtful design can transform how people live. She believes that a home should be more than just a space—it should serve as a sanctuary, a place where people feel comfortable, relaxed, and able to recharge. Originally from the Southeast, Shelly earned her undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, graduating in 1999. After gaining professional experience, she returned to school and completed her master’s degree in architecture at University of California, Berkeley in 2002. She relocated to Seattle in 2005, where she worked full time at a local high end residential firm before taking time away from full-time practice to raise her family. During that time, Shelly continued contributing to the field through part-time work. She is now bringing her experience, passion for thoughtful design, and commitment to creating meaningful spaces to her own architectural practice, hōm studio.
Shelly lives in Mercer Island with her husband, three kids and two rescue dogs.
